Can you introduce yourself and tell us a little about your background?
I am a former Managing Director of Network Rail Property, bringing extensive executive leadership experience across complex property, infrastructure and regeneration portfolios.
Alongside this, I have held non-executive positions within the social housing sector, providing strategic oversight and governance for a Registered Social Landlord.
As a Chartered Accountant, I combine commercial acumen with financial stewardship and currently lead the LLP Board on Audit and Risk, helping to ensure robust governance, effective risk management and sustainable long-term growth.
What’s one lesson from your career that can be applied to Temple Quarter?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is the importance of listening.
It is important to listen to all stakeholders and understand a range of different perspectives.
You need to be prepared to take on board their views and change your plans.
What made you want to become a Non-Executive Director at BTQ LLP?
I was involved with the formation of the BTQ regeneration project some 15 years ago, so when the opportunity arose to be reinvolved with one of the most exciting and significant regeneration projects in Europe as it moves into a period of delivery, it was an obvious opportunity I didn’t want to miss.
I see it as unfinished business for me.
Is there an upcoming project or area of work that you’re particularly excited about?
I believe we will see a huge amount of change in and around the station, in particular over the coming 3 – 5 years.
It will significantly improve the environment for people, begin to demonstrate, in a very tangible, physical way how the BTQ project will transform the area.
Looking back on your first six months as a Board member, what experience has stood out most?
What has stood out most is the people. Meeting the Temple Quarter team and my fellow Board members reinforced just how much commitment, expertise and passion there is behind the project.
It quickly became clear to me that everyone involved wants BTQ to succeed and is committed to making that happen.
Finally, what would success look like for the project in the next few years?
We need to deliver physical change on the ground. It’s time to start turning the BTQ vision into reality and for people to see the benefits of the project taking shape.
