As Bristol Temple Quarter is part of the Geography Curriculum, we wanted to make it as straight forward as possible for teachers and students to find out more about the project.

As well as classroom resources, you can find information on additional school resources, such as Minecraft workshops and walking tours with the team and self-guided walking tours.

 

GCSE Geography Resources

As Bristol Temple Quarter is part of the GCSE Geography Curriculum, we wanted to make it as straight forward as possible for teachers and students to find out more about the regeneration.

In partnership with Catherine Owen, Head of Geography at The King Alfred School, an academy in Somerset and President of the Geographical Association for 2025/26, and Michelle Graffagnino from the University of Bristol School of Education, Bristol Temple Quarter have produced a range of resources

We want to extend our special thanks to the Geographical Association, for allowing us to use ideas and data collection resources from their ‘Guide to Fieldwork in Bristol’.

Additional Resources

We have a range of activities and resources that we can provide to schools and universities which include:

  • a tour of the Bristol Temple Quarter regeneration area 
  • map and information for a self-led tour
  • workshops or presentations
  • We are happy to discuss bespoke activities with teachers.

Key Stage 2 – Bristol Temple Quarter in Minecraft workshop

Take part in an interactive curriculum-linked STEM workshop for KS2 run by a team from the University of the West of England (UWE). The workshop gives pupils the chance to design and build sustainable solutions and ideas for the upcoming Bristol Temple Quarter regeneration project. Using a Minecraft model of the area as a design tool, pupils’ creative ideas and solutions will be collected by the Temple Quarter team as it draws up plans for Temple Quarter.

  • 1-2 hours flexible session length
  • 1 class per session in your classroom or at UWE School of Engineering
  • No cost to school and no special equipment required

School walking tours

We run walking tours of the key sites around Bristol Temple Meads Station that will be transformed as part of Temple Quarter.

We’re happy to arrange bespoke tours for school classes and youth groups whenever possible. Please email us to discuss your requirements and availability.

Training and information for teachers

The Temple Quarter team and Historic England have recently run two successful training days for teachers which cover heritage and regeneration of the Temple Quarter area.

We currently have no further programmed dates but if you are interested in this training either at a future event or within your school or trust, please get in touch.

Self-guided walking tour

Bristol Temple Quarter offers the resources for a self-led walking tour, consisting of a map and factsheet.

The factsheet includes talking points, the challenges, and the opportunities of each site.

Consultation and Engagement

As we develop our proposals for change at BTQ, there be opportunities for people to influence emerging ideas for different areas of the Temple Quarter programme. This will include both face-to-face opportunities and online engagement. Details will be available on this page.
