Eastern Entrance

The Eastern Entrance will connect the new university campus and communities and businesses in St Philip’s Marsh and nearby with Temple Meads station.

Improving access to the east of Bristol

The £23m Eastern Entrance has dramatically improved access to and from Bristol Temple Meads for people living and working in the east of Bristol. It opens directly into the University of Bristol’s new Enterprise Campus, forming a gateway into this part of the city. By 2030, 2.5m people a year are expected to use this entrance.

Works on the entrance started at the end of 2023, and included extending the subway within the station by excavating through the retaining wall and underneath platforms 13 and 15, followed by drainage and foundations work.

The entrance opened on 7 September 2026.
