Officially known as the Bristol Temple Quarter Grant Programme, the fund will provide small grants to support community organisations in and around BTQ, as well as pilot projects and initiatives which can directly contribute towards the goals of the Bristol Temple Quarter charter, which are:

  • Good Work for all
  • Community Wellbeing
  • Sustainable Places

Organisations can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to support new activities or build on existing work that contributes to the outcomes of the Bristol Temple Quarter Programme. The fund is managed by Quartet Community Foundation, who will administer the grants and support local organisations through the application process.

Following the pilot round of funding, the LLP hopes to encourage private sector partners and developers to contribute and ensure the fund’s long-term sustainability.

To be eligible, applications must be based in Bristol, South Gloucestershire or Bath & North East Somerset and must show a clear connection to Bristol Temple Quarter in their proposal.

Grants are open to:

  • Constituted voluntary or community organisations
  • Registered charities
  • Not-for-profit companies, including Community Interest Companies (CIC) where most directors are unpaid

Karen Mercer, CEO of Bristol Temple Quarter, said

“I’m delighted to introduce the Temple Quarter Community Fund.

Our ambition has always been to deliver meaningful change for local people, and this programme is another way we can support communities to shape that change themselves.

We hope to see a wide range of initiatives and groups come forward with ideas that will make a change for the communities in and around Temple Quarter.’

Helen Godwin, Mayor of the West of England, said:

I’m thrilled that the Bristol Temple Quarter team have launched a new community fund. This £50,000 initiative will bring communities closer to one of our region’s largest regeneration projects.

“By investing in local ideas and grassroots projects, supporting jobs and skills, community and sustainability, the community fund will start to make sure that the benefits of Bristol Temple Quarter are seen and felt across the West.”

Councillor Tony Dyer, Leader of Bristol City Council, said:

“Communities directly affected by regeneration must feel the benefits of the change that is happening around them.

This fund is a demonstration of the positive opportunities that the regeneration of Temple Quarter can deliver for communities, and I’m delighted to see the broad range of work that can be supported by these grants. The fund will empower local people and organisations who are already making such a difference in our city, and hopefully give them extra support to continue, or start that important work”
