We welcome temporary use projects in the Enterprise Zone. Projects that have happened so far have helped raise the zone’s profile, animated the area and encouraged new audiences to visit. By opening up some development areas to temporary uses, we want to allow innovative and creative projects to grow in a low risk environment. Examples of past and current temporary uses in the area include:

  • Plot 3 in Temple Quay was used by Creative Common as an events space throughout the summer of 2012 and for a longer, nine-month season in 2013;
  • The former Diesel Depot site was used by the Severn Project as a temporary urban growing space, from which they grew organic salad leaves and vegetables that were then sold to local restaurants and shops;
  • ‘Animating the Zone’, a collaborative initiative co-ordinated by Watershed and funded by Arts Council England, which led to a series of creative and digital commissions across the area. These included an immersive, interactive light show, a theatrical guided tour of a future city, art exhibitions and a film challenge. Further information can be found on the Watershed’s website.
  • Yurt Lush, a café with food designed by Michelin starred chef Josh Eggleton.
