As 2016 draws to a close, we’d like to take this opportunity to wish you all a merry Christmas and a very happy new year.
It’s been a very busy 12 months for us in Enterprise Zone, and you can get an overview of everything we’ve accomplished to date on our interactive timeline.
2016 in particular has seen the council’s acquisition of City Point, planning permission being granted for the Bristol Arena, the naming of a new bridge and the exciting news that the Old Sorting Office on Cattle Market Road will be the future home of the University of Bristol’s new campus, with a focus on digital innovation and business.
Additionally, the Spatial Framework – which outlines Bristol City Council’s aspirations for how the area will look in the future – was formally adopted as a material consideration for future planning applications. HMRC is also set to become one of Bristol’s largest employers, having agreed a lease on 3 Glass Wharf.
Development looks to continue apace in the new year, with several iconic schemes having secured planning approval: Assembly Bristol, the Anvil and Phase IV of Paintworks. It will also see work starting on Engine Shed 2, the opening of science business incubator Unit DX and the remodelling of the Temple Circus Roundabout. The Enterprise Zone is also set to be expanded – watch this space for more news about the final area.
