Bristol Energy Logo

Bristol Energy is an innovative new energy company currently based in offices on Temple Quay. As it’s just opened its doors to business customers, as well as launching an exclusive deal for Bristol residents, we thought it would be a good time find out more about what’s on offer.

Business age: Bristol Energy officially opened for business in February 2016.

What is Bristol Energy? Bristol Energy is a different kind of gas and electricity company. Owned by Bristol City Council, we’re one of the first municipal energy supply companies in the country, and the first in the South West. This means our profits will be reinvested back into Bristol.

Does that mean you only supply energy to Bristol? No – we are a national energy supplier and already serve tens of thousands of households across the country. Customers from outside the city are joining us because we offer competitive prices. For customers who live locally, it’s the chance to pay less, and support local communities at the same time.

How else is Bristol Energy different from other energy suppliers? We’re only the second energy company in the country to reinvest our profits back into our founding city. We want to be a force for social good: paying for your gas and electricity is a necessary bill, so why not use that money to make a positive difference? We also offer a different kind of customer service. Our unique Bristol Energy Hub provides face-to-face support for our domestic and business customers, and is a space for anyone who wants to discuss their energy use or switch to Bristol Energy over a cup of tea.

Tell us about your new offers. Bristol Energy has recently opened its doors to business customers in Bristol and the South West. We’re offering competitive deals to micro, small and medium sized businesses across the region, helping them save money and support their local economy.

One of our newest customers is Emmaus, a charity and social enterprise in Bristol that helps people out of homelessness by offering a safe and warm place to stay, as well as rewarding work through their social enterprises.

And for anyone with a Bristol postcode, we’re offering a My Bristol Tariff, which is saving our domestic customers on average around £240 per year. It’s easy to switch and only takes a few minutes. Find out more here, and discover why some of our existing Bristol customers chose to join us.
