The Government has recently announced that Bristol will receive £11.3 million to invest in making our broadband world-class. These ‘Gigabit Bristol’ plans will see the City’s digital infrastructure upgraded to deliver Citywide wireless and ensure that at least 90% of the city can access Superfast broadband (higher than 24Mbps).

The project will also make Ultrafast broadband (at least 80Mbps) available across a large, centrally-located area, known as the “Digital Enterprise Zone”, which comprises Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone, the Harbourside and the University.

The funding also includes a contribution towards a Growth Hub; a physical space in the Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone where the latest technology such as 3D Printing and High Definition Video Conferencing can be demonstrated as a shop window for the capabilities of the next generation of broadband.
