The former Temple Island site once had very limited access. An £11m investment from Homes England funded a new bridge from Temple Island to Cattle Market Road, which was installed in 2015. The bridge is 63m long, 18 metres wide and will eventually be open to cars, pedestrians and bikes. You can find out more about the bridge on our blog.

In early 2016, the Bristol Post ran a competition to name the new bridge. The winning name, Brock’s Bridge, was submitted by the Totterdown and Knowle Local History Society and commemorates local Victorian builder and entrepreneur William Brock. You can find out more about Brock and the competition in our press release.
