The former Diesel Depot site, the future home of the Bristol Arena, currently has very limited access. Thanks to an £11m investment from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), this will be vastly improved by the building of a bridge from Arena Island to Cattle Market Road. The bridge is 63m long, 18 metres wide and will eventually be open to cars, pedestrians and bikes. You can find out more about the bridge on our blog.
In early 2016, the Bristol Post ran a competition to name the new bridge. The winning name, Brock’s Bridge, was submitted by the Totterdown and Knowle Local History Society and commemorates local Victorian builder and entrepreneur William Brock. You can find out more about Brock and the competition in our press release.
