Engine Shed 2 will build on Engine Shed’s success, scaling up the original incubator’s offering and providing follow-on space for rapidly growing companies. It will feature over 4,000 square metres of accommodation, including work space, meeting rooms, incubator space and business lounge-like space for interaction between business people, the public sector and academia.

As with Engine Shed, Engine Shed 2 will focus on high growth and high-tech businesses. However, the additional space will allow it to explore other sectors, such as social enterprise and internet security. There will also be a renewed focus on inspiring young people and under-represented communities, especially from the local area.

The proposed location for Engine Shed 2 is the George and Railway site and neighbouring car park close to Temple Meads station, and Skanska UK will be the developers for the project. This choice of site will mark the redevelopment of a prominently placed derelict building, and significantly enhance the first impression of the city offered to those arriving at Temple Meads.
